For over 20 years, Virginia Outside has been running summer camps, teaching youth about the great outdoors and creating lifelong memories for both campers and staff members.
Our overnight adventure fishing camp provides the opportunity to learn more about spending time outdoors. Dive into a week filled with fishing, camping, boating, and more!
After arriving at the base camp campground on Sunday afternoon, campers will set up their tents and help to prepare our base camp for the week.
We will spend the week fishing the best waters the area has to offer. The conveniently located campground allows for the unique opportunity to split time fishing both fresh and saltwater!
We will have the chance to fish both private and public waters throughout the week, providing the optimal fishing experience!
We will spend time fishing near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on a charter boat targeting species such as Flounder, Sheepshead, Speckled Trout, and Cobia, clean our catch, and take it back to camp for the ultimate fish fry. In addition, campers will fish a day on a head boat on the bay and spend time fishing local area piers or beaches.
This camp is great for those who aren’t quite ready to venture into the depths of backcountry camping, but will enjoy being outside for a week. We will spend the majority of each day fishing, with some beach time, visiting local museums or aquariums, and have some trail exploration mixed in during the week.

Lodging/Food: We will spend the week tent camping. Campers will either sleep alone in a tent or choose a buddy to share a tent with. Staff members will sleep in personal tents. All meals will be cooked by either Virginia Outside staff or camper teams assigned at the beginning of the week. Campers will also be asked to help with food prep when needed and will be responsible for washing their personal dishes after each meal.
The bathhouse has private bathrooms and showers.
Transportation: Transportation to the campground is provided by Virginia Outside from Richmond. The group van and gear trailer will leave from Richmond, Virginia, on Sunday Afternoon and return on Friday Afternoon.
Families are also more than welcome to meet the group at the campground if Richmond is not a convenient meeting location upon request.
Camp Info: This is a small group camp open to only 10 campers per week with 2-3 Counselors
Gear Provided By Virginia Outside: Tents, Sleeping Pads, Fishing Rods and Tackle, Lifejackets.
