Adventure Surf Camp

Get ready for the ultimate coastal adventure! Our Adventure Surf Camp, in partnership with Surf and Adventure Co., combines the thrill of surfing with unforgettable outdoor experiences along Virginia’s most beautiful beaches and waterways.

Campers will dive into three professionally led surf camp sessions, learning wave-riding skills and ocean safety with expert instructors. Beyond the surf, the week is packed with exciting adventures:

• Day hiking through the scenic trails of Back Bay Wildlife Refuge, where diverse ecosystems and wildlife come alive.
• Biking along the sand in False Cape State Park, exploring one of Virginia’s most pristine and untouched coastal landscapes.
• Kayaking or paddleboarding on Back Bay, gliding through calm waters, and discovering hidden corners of this coastal haven.
• Fishing from Sandbridge Pier, where campers can try their hand at catching the big one.
• Afternoons on Sandbridge Beach, with time to relax, swim, and enjoy the sun and surf.
• Overnight camping, building connections around the fire, and experiencing the great outdoors under the stars.

This camp is designed for active, adventurous campers who want to explore everything Sandbridge has to offer—from waves and waterways to trails and wild spaces. With a perfect balance of instruction, exploration, and fun, Adventure Surf Camp is where summer memories are made.

Boys, Ages 12 to 16

Lodging/Food: We will spend the week staying in rustic cabins, with air conditioning at a private campground. All meals will be cooked by either Virginia Outside staff or camper teams assigned at the beginning of the week. Campers will also be asked to help with food prep when needed and will be responsible for washing their personal dishes after each meal.

The bathhouse has private bathrooms and showers.

Transportation: Transportation to the campground is provided by Virginia Outside from Richmond. The group van and gear trailer will leave from Forest Hill Park in Richmond, Virginia, on Monday morning and return on Friday Afternoon.

Families are also more than welcome to meet the group at the campground in Sandbridge, or along the I-64 corridor east to Hampton Roads, if Richmond is not a convenient meeting location upon request.

Camp Info: This is a small group camp open to only 10 campers per week with 2-3 Counselors
