Beginner to intermediate. No experience necessary.
Boys & Girls Age 10-14
Our week long, day camp for 9-14 year olds is designed to teach the entire process of fishing from lining rods, tying knots, baiting hooks, casting, identifying fish, and properly releasing them. Our focus is to help kids gain a greater appreciation of the outdoors while teaching them the skills to become self reliant anglers!
Campers will spend the week fishing a combination of freshwater ponds, lakes, and wading in the Rappahannock, Rapidan, and Shenandoah Rivers. Campers will also spend a day on the Chesapeake Bay with Captain Frank Carver aboard the 48′ “Loosenup” Charter Boat!
Safety is our number one priority, so all campers will wear life jackets when in the water or on a boat. We maintain a 1-to-5 counselor-to-camper ratio to ensure every camper gets some one on one time each day to advance his or her skills.
This can also be an opportunity for Scouts to work on skills towards earning their fishing merit badge.
Virginia Outside provides all rods and reels, bait and tackle, and life jackets.
